2020 so far has been big on new and outrageous fashion trends however we have slowly seen the trends go from the runway to the couch. Considering the COVID-19 problem we have happening all the around; the fashion has gone from street wear to lounge wear. People are finding the new and improved ways to wear fashion around the house but still look stylish at the same time.
An article from WGSN goes through discussing and displaying women’s style trends concepts of 2020/2021. The name of the article is called considered comfort (system for living). The articles drive to talk about how considered comfort explores how fashion will respond to our changing relationship with the home and how it shifts to become a multifunctional system for living. Within the articles it names many ways to wear trending comforting clothes around the house such as dance wear, everyday decadence, upscaled minimalism and many more.
One of my favourite lounge trends at the moment would have to be upscaled minimalism just like mentioned in the WGSN article. Upscaled minimalism explores chic, revealing, modern, minimal lingerie inspired designs that empower the inner femineity whist being comfortable. In distressing times it’s important to not let your mind take over your body. Women and men most feel comfortable when wearing something that’s associated with baggy, fluffy, cosy and warm. I believe wearing something that makes you feel and look good can take our minds away from dark times and remind people that there’s so many new options to explore.
Another trend mentioned in WGSN discovers the idea of ‘softly sculpted’ which explores the silhouette of the body working with its curves and not against it. This trend again is perfect to spice up your wardrobe with the latest style trend concepts but still relating it back to the environment you’re in. This trend can be recreated at home just by going through your wardrobe or maybe doing a sneaky online shop. Finding clothing/accessories/shoes that explore unusual shapes, straps, materials and proportion.
These new and upcoming trends will leave you wanting to explore more and trying them for yourself. It’s all about exploring new possibilities with the environment your given and making the most of it. Why not create a trend of your own…
